Linda Ann Nickerson presents Off Course - Haikus and Views on Racetrack News posted at The Mane Point Is . . ., saying, "The 134th Kentucky Derby horse race , held Saturday, May 3, 2008, was marked by both triumph and tragedy. The undefeated Big Brown won, of course, but Eight Belles (the only filly in the race) collapsed after the finish line and broke both front ankles. The horse was euthanized on the spot. This six-haiku series questions the public perspectives and emphases that followed."

On such nights, participants may spend exorbitant amounts of money for formal attire and blow big bucks at the gaming tables . . . all in the name of a favorite charity. Honestly! Wouldn’t it be cheaper to just write them a check in the first place?"

I look forward to more posts from all of you out there. You don't have to have a poetry blog to participate. You don't have to have serious haiku to participate.
